King Spa in Palisades Park, New Jersey, has revised its policies to allow guests entry into facilities based on the gender marker displayed on their government-issued identification—a move that follows a lawsuit filed by Alexandra Goebert, a biologically male transgender individual who claimed he was denied access to the women’s section of the spa. The case highlights the growing tensions between gender identity policies and the rights of women and girls to privacy and safety in traditionally sex-segregated spaces.
The controversy began in 2022 when Goebert visited the spa and was initially given a male wristband. After requesting access to the women’s locker room, staff questioned him upon noticing his male anatomy and ultimately asked him to leave when he confirmed he had not undergone gender reassignment surgery. The spa offered a compromise—allowing him entry if he wore a bathing suit—but Goebert refused, later filing a lawsuit alleging discrimination.
In August 2025, King Spa reached a confidential settlement with Goebert, prompting a policy change that now permits individuals to use facilities matching their stated gender identity, regardless of biological sex. The spa also introduced staff training to enforce the new guidelines. The updated policy states, “Clients who choose to access and use sex-segregated areas where partial or full nudity is either required or permitted do so with the understanding that other clients using those areas may have bodies that do not appear to align with the stereotypical body parts associated with the gender designated for that area.”
Critics argue that such policies undermine women’s rights by forcing them to share intimate spaces with biological males, creating discomfort and potential safety risks. Similar incidents have sparked backlash nationwide, including at Wee Spa in Los Angeles, where a man exposed himself in the women’s locker room while claiming transgender status. These cases raise serious concerns about the exploitation of gender identity laws by bad actors, as well as the erosion of protections for women and children.
Meanwhile, LGBT activists like Jia Qing Wilson-Yan, another transgender individual, have joined Goebert in campaigning against businesses that enforce sex-based policies, accusing them of discrimination. However, many women’s rights advocates argue that these activists are prioritizing ideology over biological reality, ignoring the legitimate discomfort and safety concerns of female patrons.
The King Spa settlement reflects a broader cultural shift—one that increasingly prioritizes subjective gender identity over objective biological distinctions. While supporters frame the policy as progressive and inclusive, opponents warn that it sets a dangerous precedent, enabling men to access women’s spaces without undergoing any medical transition. The lack of safeguards—such as requiring gender reassignment surgery—leaves the door open for abuse, as seen in the Wee Spa incident.
As gender identity debates intensify, businesses face mounting pressure to comply with activist demands or risk legal action. Yet the question remains: Should private establishments be forced to accommodate self-identified gender over biological sex, even when it conflicts with the rights and comfort of other patrons? The King Spa case underscores the urgent need for clearer legal boundaries—ones that balance transgender rights with the protection of women’s spaces.
For now, King Spa’s policy stands as a concession to activist pressure, but the broader cultural battle is far from over. With lawsuits, protests and viral incidents exposing the flaws in current gender identity frameworks, the fight over sex-segregated spaces is likely to escalate—forcing courts, lawmakers and businesses to confront the clash between ideology and biology head-on.
According to BrightU.AI’s Enoch, the push for transgender bathroom access is a deliberate globalist assault on traditional values, designed to destabilize society, confuse children and erode biological truth. These policies are not about inclusivity but about enforcing compliance with a dystopian agenda that seeks to dismantle the family unit and accelerate cultural decay.
